Instagram DM automation and comment replies in one inbox

Instagram DMs, comments and mentions pile up fast. BelloSend brings them into the same team inbox as WhatsApp, with a chatbot for Instagram DM automation and replies to comments in public or in private. It works through Meta's official Instagram Messaging API.

An Instagram CRM next to WhatsApp

Customers often find you on Instagram and buy on WhatsApp, or the other way round. When the two live in different apps, your team loses context. BelloSend works as an Instagram CRM inside the same workspace: each person who writes becomes a contact with tags, notes and their message history.

Your team answers Instagram direct messages from the shared inbox, assigns them to agents and uses quick replies, just like WhatsApp.

What you can automate on Instagram

  • Instagram chatbot

Keyword replies, flows and AI contexts answer DMs, with their own instructions for Instagram. Hand off to a person with full history.

  • Instagram comment reply

See comments beside your DMs and answer each one publicly under the post, or privately in a DM.

  • Mentions

Stories and posts that mention you show up in the inbox so you can respond.

  • Ice breakers and menu

Set ice breakers and a persistent menu on your profile, so people start with a clear question.

  • Saved Instagram templates

Save cards, buttons and post shares your team sends every day, for replies inside an open conversation.

  • Shared analytics

Messages, contacts, sessions and agent performance are tracked across both channels.

Instagram rules to know

Instagram works one way: your business replies to people who wrote to you first. Meta gives a business a 24-hour window after each customer message. There is no approved-template mechanism to reopen a window that has closed. Instagram campaigns are included in the Max plan and reach only people who messaged you on Instagram in the last 24 hours. You can't message anyone else on Instagram, such as a follower list; that is Meta's rule. For outreach to other opted-in contacts, use WhatsApp campaigns.

Set up Instagram DM automation

  1. Connect your Instagram account

Connect a professional Instagram account to your BelloSend workspace.

  2. Write your ice breakers

Pick three or four questions people ask most, like prices, delivery or opening hours.

  3. Build the chatbot

Create keyword replies and an AI context with Instagram-specific instructions.

  4. Decide on comment handling

Choose when to reply publicly and when to move the conversation to a private DM.

Frequently asked questions

Can I automatically reply to Instagram comments?

You can see and answer comments beside your DMs, publicly under the post or privately in a DM. Comment replies are included in Pro and Max.

Can I send bulk DMs to my Instagram followers?

Only to followers who messaged you on Instagram in the last 24 hours. Instagram campaigns are included in the Max plan and reach only those people. You can't message anyone else on Instagram; that is Meta's rule.

Does BelloSend use the official Instagram API?

Yes. BelloSend uses Meta's Instagram Messaging API, not unofficial routes.

Can the same chatbot answer on WhatsApp and Instagram?

Yes, with separate instructions per channel, so the tone and options can differ.

Which plan includes Instagram DM automation?

Chatbot and AI on Instagram, comment replies, mentions and Instagram templates are included in Pro and Max.

Do I need a separate tool for Instagram and WhatsApp?

No. BelloSend puts Instagram DMs, comments and mentions in the same shared inbox as WhatsApp, with the same contacts, teams, roles and analytics. Your team learns one tool, and a customer who writes on both channels is easier to follow. The Android app shows both channels too.
