WhatsApp link generator

A WhatsApp link opens a chat with your business in one tap, with no need to save your number. Type your number and an optional message above, and the WhatsApp link generator builds your wa.me link instantly. Copy it, test it, or take the ready-made button code for your website. It is free and works in your browser.

How to use the WhatsApp link generator

  1. Type your WhatsApp number

Include the country code, for example +212 6 12 34 56 78. Spaces, dashes and the + sign are fine: the tool keeps only the digits and removes a leading 00.

  2. Add a pre-filled message

Optional. This text appears in the customer's message box when the chat opens, ready to send. The tool encodes it for the link.

  3. Copy and test

Copy the link, then tap Test the link to check that it opens a chat with the right number.

  4. Add the button to your site

Copy the button code and paste it into your website's HTML where you want a Chat with us on WhatsApp button.

How wa.me links work

WhatsApp's click to chat feature opens a conversation from a short web address. The format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full phone number in international format, digits only: no plus sign, no leading zeros, no brackets and no dashes. For a Moroccan number 06 12 34 56 78, that is https://wa.me/212612345678.

To add a message, append ?text= and the URL-encoded text, for example https://wa.me/212612345678?text=Hello%20I%20would%20like%20a%20quote. On a phone, the link opens WhatsApp. On a computer, it opens WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web.

The person who taps the link starts the conversation. On the WhatsApp Business Platform, that first message opens a 24-hour customer service window, so your team can reply freely.

Where to use your WhatsApp link

  • Website and checkout

A chat button on product pages, the contact page or after checkout, so buyers ask before they leave.

  • Instagram and TikTok bio

One link in your profile that opens a chat instead of a form.

  • Email signatures and invoices

Customers reply on WhatsApp with one tap when they have a question.

  • Ads and Google Business Profile

Send ad clicks or map visitors straight to a conversation.

Tips for better WhatsApp links

  • Use a different pre-filled message per place, such as "Hi, I saw your Instagram", so you know where each chat came from.
  • Keep the pre-filled message short and in your customer's language.
  • Use a number someone answers during business hours, or set up an auto-reply.
  • Do not shorten the link with a service that hides the destination; people trust a visible wa.me address.
  • Test the link on a phone and a computer after every change.

Answer every link click as a team

Links bring conversations. When several people answer them, BelloSend puts every WhatsApp and Instagram chat in one shared inbox, with assignment, notes and quick replies. With the Pro plan, a chatbot can greet people who come from your link and pass them to an agent.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WhatsApp link generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and does not store your number or message.

Does a wa.me link work with the WhatsApp Business app?

Yes. wa.me links work with any WhatsApp number: personal, WhatsApp Business app or WhatsApp Business API.

Why does my link not open the right chat?

Usually the country code is missing or a leading zero was kept. Type the full international number, for example 212 for Morocco or 33 for France, then the number without its first 0.

Can the pre-filled message include emojis and line breaks?

Yes. The tool encodes the text so emojis, accents and line breaks reach WhatsApp correctly.

Does clicking the link send the message automatically?

No. The text only appears in the message box. The customer decides whether to send it.

Can I see how many people clicked my WhatsApp link?

A wa.me link has no click counter of its own. Use a different pre-filled message for each place you share the link, then count the chats that arrive with each message in your inbox. That tells you which channel brings conversations, not only clicks.
