When to send each Ramadan and Eid message

  • Before Ramadan

    Announce your Ramadan selection and new opening hours a few days before the month starts.

  • During Ramadan

    Send one offer at a time, at a calm hour, and answer questions from the inbox.

  • Before Eid

    Remind customers of the last order date for delivery before Eid.

  • On Eid

    Send a short greeting with your thanks. Keep any offer simple.

Which category are Ramadan and Eid templates?

Holiday greetings and seasonal offers are Marketing templates. Meta's guidelines list greetings and promotions as Marketing, even when the message has no price in it.

A changed-hours notice on its own can still be reviewed as Marketing, because it is not about a specific order or booking. Plan for the Marketing rate.

Tips for Ramadan and Eid campaigns

  • Submit templates a few weeks before Ramadan begins, so you have time to fix a rejection.
  • Write one template per language. Arabic, French and English versions are separate templates with the same name and different languages.
  • Do not start or end the body with a variable. Put the customer's name after the greeting, as in "Ramadan Mubarak {{1}}.", and always finish with a full sentence.
  • Respect timing. Avoid sending during iftar and late at night.
  • Send only to opted-in contacts and include an easy opt-out, such as a "Stop promotions" button.

Can I write the template in Arabic?

Yes. Meta supports Arabic templates. Submit the Arabic version as its own template language, and do the same for French or English.

Which plan do I need to send a Ramadan campaign?

WhatsApp campaigns are included in the Max plan. On other plans, agents can send approved templates one contact at a time from the inbox.

Can I send to all my WhatsApp contacts?

Only to contacts who opted in to receive messages from your business. Sending to people who did not agree leads to blocks and a lower quality rating.

When should I submit my templates?

A few weeks before Ramadan, so you have time to adjust and resubmit if Meta rejects a template.

Can I send Ramadan offers to customers in several countries?

Yes, if they opted in. Meta charges the Marketing rate of each contact's country, so a campaign to Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the UAE has a different cost per message in each market.
