WhatsApp API integration and webhooks for your own systems

Your orders, bookings and customer records live in other tools. BelloSend's API and WhatsApp webhooks connect them to your conversations. Create scoped API keys, receive signed events for WhatsApp and Instagram, and build the integrations you need. API and webhooks are included in the Max plan.

How WhatsApp API integration works with BelloSend

There are two directions. Your system calls BelloSend's API, with an API key, to act in your workspace, for example to send an approved template when an order ships. BelloSend calls your system with an outbound webhook when something happens, for example when a message arrives or a delivery status changes.

BelloSend does not have an app marketplace with ready-made Shopify, HubSpot or Zapier apps. Instead, you connect your store, CRM or automation tools like Zapier, Make or n8n through the API and webhooks.

What you get

  • Scoped API keys

Create keys that grant only the access an integration needs.

  • Signed outbound webhooks

Events are signed, so your server can check they really came from BelloSend.

  • WhatsApp and Instagram events

Webhooks cover events on both channels, so one integration can follow every conversation.

  • Encrypted secrets

Access tokens and app secrets are encrypted at rest when stored by the production service.

  • Organization isolation

Accounts, contacts, messages and settings are scoped to the active organization.

  • Webhooks in chatbot flows

Chatbot workflows can call an external webhook, for example to look up an order, in the middle of a conversation.

Common WhatsApp API integrations

  • Send an order confirmation template when your store creates an order
  • Ask for cash-on-delivery confirmation and update the order from the reply
  • Send shipping updates when the carrier status changes
  • Send an abandoned cart reminder to opted-in shoppers
  • Create or update a lead in your CRM when a new WhatsApp contact writes
  • Send appointment reminders from your booking system
  • Copy conversation events to a data warehouse for reporting

Set up WhatsApp webhooks

  1. Create an endpoint

Prepare a URL on your server, or a webhook trigger in Zapier, Make or n8n.

  2. Add the destination in BelloSend

Register the URL as an event destination and choose the events you need.

  3. Verify the signature

Check each event's signature before you trust it.

  4. Create an API key

Give the key only the scopes your integration uses, and store it safely.

Plans and costs

API and webhooks for WhatsApp and Instagram are included in the Max plan, along with WhatsApp campaigns, Instagram campaigns (to people who messaged you in the last 24 hours), 10 team members, 14 WhatsApp numbers and unlimited connected apps. BelloSend adds no fee per API call or per message. Template messages you send through the API are charged by Meta, by category and country.

Frequently asked questions

Does BelloSend have a Shopify or HubSpot app?

No. There is no integrations marketplace. You connect Shopify, HubSpot or any other tool through BelloSend's API and webhooks, directly or with Zapier, Make or n8n.

Which plan includes the API and webhooks?

The Max plan includes API and webhooks for WhatsApp and Instagram.

Are BelloSend webhooks secure?

Outbound webhooks are signed so you can verify them, API keys are scoped, and integration secrets are encrypted at rest.

Can I send WhatsApp messages from my own app?

Yes, through the API. Messages that start a conversation must use an approved template sent to opted-in contacts.

Is this the same as Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API?

BelloSend connects to Meta's Cloud API for you. Its own API and webhooks let your systems work with your BelloSend workspace, inbox and contacts.

Do I need a developer to use the API and webhooks?

For a custom integration, yes, someone who can write a small server or script helps. If you prefer no code, point the webhooks at a tool like Zapier, Make or n8n and build the steps there. Start with one simple flow, such as an order confirmation, and add more once it works.
